Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and
Drug Action Team

What is the Safer Middlesbrough Partnership?

The Safer Middlesbrough Partnership is a merged Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and Drug Action Team.  The Partnership is made up of a range of statutory organisations including Cleveland Police, Middlesbrough Council, Middlesbrough Primary Care Trust and Cleveland Fire and Rescue Service along with voluntary organisations such as Drug and Alcohol Treatment services, My Sisters Place, the North of England Refugee Service and Middlesbrough Voluntary Development Forum.  All of the partnership agencies work together to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and the harm caused by drugs and alcohol.

The Safer Middlesbrough Partnership has recently launched a new Community Safety Plan which sets out a programme of work that will be carried out to improve community safety in Middlesbrough.

The Community Safety Plan 2008-2011 explains how statutory and voluntary agencies in Middlesbrough will work together to tackle the following priorities.

  • Reducing re-offending.
  • Diverting young people away from crime and anti-social behaviour and reducing the vulnerability of young people becoming victims of crime.
  •  Reducing repeat victimisation.
  • Town centre safety.
  • Neighbourhood safety.
